Restaurant style Daal Makhani at your home.
Serving – 4-6 People
Prep Time- 10 Mins
Cooking time – 1.5 Hours
Ingredients-
Cinamon 1 stick
Bay leaf 2 no.
Oil -1 0 Ml
Ginger Garlic Paste 2 Tsp
Tomato puree 1 cup Ml
Black daal- ¾ cup Gms
Rajama – ¼ cup Gms
Cumin seeds 1 Tsp
Julienne Ginger 5 Gms
Chopped onions – ½ Cup
Tomato Puree/paste – 3 TBSP
Cream ¼ cup
Butter 150 Gms
Salt TT
Kasturi Methi ½ Tsp
Coriander Spring- Garnish
Method–
Part 1-
• Soak black daal and rajama overnight or at least for 8-10 hours.
• Rub it well once soaked then wash and drain.
• Add soaked daal in cooker along with bay leaf, cinnamon stick and salt.
• Add water and turn on the heat on medium flame. Let it cook, 17-18 whistles it will take to cook it well. Once cooked take some of the daal and make puree of it and keep aside.
Part 2-
• Heat pan on medium heat, add oil then butter once the butter melts then add cumin seeds in it, let it crackle then add ginger garlic paste and then Kashmiri lal powder. Keep stirring continuously, once it loose bit of oil (Add water if its sticking to the pan) then add chopped onions in it and cook further.
• Once onions are translucent then add tomato puree and cook it further. Add salt and keep it on medium heat for cooking, keep stirring it in between.
• Once tomatoes mix is cooked, add puree of daal and cooked daal in it and cook it further.
• Keep mixing it.
Part 3-
• Make tadka on side, heat butter in one pan and then add garam masala , ginger julienne and Kashmiri laal mirch powder in it.
• Once cooked add that tadka in daal which is cooking.
Part 4-
• Mix the daal, taste it add butter in it and check if its cooked properly.
• Check consistency, if you feel its really thick then add water as per requirement.
• If its cooked, add cream and powdered kasuri methi (Roasted) in it and mix well.
• Adjust salt as per requirement and then serve it in the bowl.
• Garnish it with cream, cube of butter and fresh coriander sprig.

You know daal makhani is my best try out dish from vegetarian dishes. I always wanted to try it at home but never got a chance to find a good recipe. My search ends here and I am going to try this soon.
